India’s First AI Teaching Robot Transforming Education

Iris, India’s first AI-designed schoolteacher robot, was introduced at a notable gathering held by Makerlabs Edutech in Kerala. Harnessing advanced robotics and generative AI, Iris features a built-in voice assistant and functions on an Intel chipset.
Dressed in Saree Iris, the humanoid recently revealed at KTCT Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram, developed in partnership with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited. Makerlabs highlights that Iris was created as a component of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), a 2021 NITI Aayog program aimed at enriching students’ extracurricular involvement in schools.
Iris possesses the capability to converse in three languages and more than 20 other languages and handle intricate inquiries. Among its features are a voice assistant, interactive learning functionalities, manipulation abilities, and mobility.
It is equipped with wheels, the robot is adept at understanding and communicating in multiple languages, while also capable of addressing complex problems across diverse subjects .
